1996 Gibson Les Paul Special DC, TV Yellow Gloss w/ P-90 Pickups & Case

Up for sale, a 1996 Gibson Les Paul Special DC in excellent condition and in perfect working order with a TV Yellow gloss nitro lacquer finish. Offering the same tonal platform as a late '50s double cutaway Special, this Gibson features an ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge for more accurate intonation and a pair of upgraded P-90 pickups (replacing the P-100s which came stock on this model). These pickups offer plenty of classic P-90 growl, presence, and midrange power, channeling the natural warmth of the mahogany body and neck. The guitar weighs 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.The one-piece mahogany neck has Gibson's quintessential slender C "60s" profile carve at the nut with a gentle increase in overall heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .780" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard, the original medium jumbo frets have plenty of meat and well-rounded crowns, showing only faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The guitar plays easily in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the scale length is 24 3/4". The face of the headstock features Gibson pearl inlay, Les Paul Special gold silkscreen text, and original Gibson Deluxe bolt-bushing tuners with vintage spec white buttons.All of the electronics work as they should, and the upgraded pair of P-90 pickups are wired to original pots, with visible date codes from the 9th week of '95. The guitar features a traditional Les Paul control array with individual Volume and Tone knobs for each pickup. Hardware includes the ABR-1 bridge and stopbar tailpiece which have gleaming nickel plating, and the stock plastics include a quartet of black bonnet knobs and a multi-ply pickguard that shows some a bit of requisite pick scuffing. Cosmetic wear on the gloss nitro lacquer TV Yellow finish is limited to a few minor dings and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.The original Gibson USA brown tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
