Up for sale, a 1996 Gibson Custom Shop Historic ‘57 Les Paul Standard Goldtop “R7” in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This Custom Shop iteration of a ‘57-spec Goldtop was crafted during an increasingly heralded era of Gibson production colloquially known as the “good wood” era, faithfully capturing vintage spec with a gloss Goldtop nitro lacquer finish, “baseball bat” neck profile, and a pair of ‘57 Classic PAF humbuckers.
Traditional tonewoods include a mahogany body, carved maple top, one-piece mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard, and this Les Paul weighs 9lbs 5oz. The natural acoustic tone offers punch, detail and ample sustain, qualities that translate well via the ‘57 Classic PAF humbuckers. These medium-wind pickups have spongy lows, detailed treble growl, and a midrange scoop that interacts well with higher gain applications. This Custom Shop Historic ‘57 Les Paul Goldtop has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
