Up for sale, a 1996 Fender Limited Edition The Ventures Stratocaster model STR-165VR in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Only produced from 1996-99, this rare “Made in Japan” Strat was designed in tandem with The Ventures’ lead guitarist (and session legend) Gerry McGee, boasting premium features including gold hardware, USA-made Gold Lace Sensor single coil pickups, an active preamp, and a transparent Midnight Black gloss finish.

Weighing 7lbs 7oz, tonewoods include an ash body, paired with a maple neck and bound 22 fret rosewood fretboard with block inlay. The “Gold” is the original Lace Sensor design, featuring a unique radiant Field Barrier system that surrounds both the coil and the magnets and reduces 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string-to-string balance than most standard single coils. The Gold iteration is specifically designed to deliver a tonal profile consistent with a ‘50s Strat, yielding ample snap and chime. Coupled with the active MDX mid-boost circuit and TBX center-detent Tone control, this Strat is particularly versatile. This Limited Edition STR-165VR Stratocaster benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
