Up for sale, a 1996 Fender Precision Bass '62 vintage reissue model PB62 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this '62 Precision was one of the very last crafted at the famed Fujigen factory, sporting a custom color Candy Apple Red gloss finish.Nothing screams quintessential bass tone like a Fender Precision. Looking to capture the magic that made the early 1960s split-coil P Bass so beloved, Fender Japan released this '62 reissue with the same cosmetic appointments, as well as the warmth, articulation and fundamental thump that defines the Precision tone. The bass is a medium weight example at 8lbs 10oz, offering the sonic richness that has been the signature of this model for decades. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this bass is strung with roundwound 45-105 strings and plays well with comfortable action and solid intonation. The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and graduating to .995" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard retains the original slender vintage-style frets which have their full factory height, playing cleanly in every register with fretwear mostly relegated to frets 1-5. The scale length is 34”, the fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4" radius, and the nut measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the vintage-style clover button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well, and the face of the headstock has a classic Pre-CBS style "spaghetti" logo. The "Made in Japan" text and N-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. The traditional electronics work as they should, with the original pickup wired to Master Volume and Tone controls with knurled metal knobs. Cosmetic wear is limited to couple finish chips on the treble side lower bout body edge, with smaller marks and scuffs mostly relegated to the perimeter, and minor finish checking extending from the corners of the neck pocket. The neck profile sports a smooth gloss finish with just a few minuscule marks that are not distracting to the palm.A gigbag is included.
