Up for sale, a 1996 Fender Jazzmaster '59 vintage reissue electric guitar, honestly played and in perfect working order. Made in Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Jazzmaster is one of the last made at the famed Fujigen factory. A rare upscale iteration with an alder body (not basswood) and original gold guard, this Jazzmaster is a soulful instrument and particularly resonant and lively.A textbook example of everything we love about the Jazzmaster, the instrument has plenty of twang and sparkle on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Weighing 7lbs 13oz, we've had this Jazzmaster professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, featuring fresh 11-49 strings, low action and spot-on intonation. The amber-tinted maple neck has a slender C profile carve at the nut with modest shoulder and just a hair more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .900" at the 12th. The dark rosewood fretboard retains the original slender vintage-style fretwire with good height and meat, showing light uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, extending faintly beneath the plain strings until fret 5. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", the fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the nut measures 1.670" in width (just fractionally shy of 1 11/16"). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Made in Japan" designation and U-prefix serial number are present at the heel just above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as they should, and the wiring is stock and untouched. The vibrato unit engages smoothly for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with an upgraded Mustang-style bridge with individually height adjustable barrel saddles. The pickguard is a particularly rare option with a vintage-correct brassy shade, showing natural playwear on the treble side and matching Fender Japan spec (as it should) with the correct 13 hole screw pattern. The three-tone Sunburst gloss finish shows concentrated dings and scuffs along the lower bout body edge, light buckle rash just below the belly contour, and prominent vertical checking on the back. Wear is more restrained on top, with some pinhead-sized marks mostly clustered on the lower bout. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, exhibiting some scattered minor marks on the profile length, and nothing distracting to the palm while fretting.***We are dealers for the Mastery bridge, Offset Vibrato, and Lollar Jazzmaster pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
