Up for sale, a 1996 Fender Jaguar HH Kurt Cobain-style "Order Made" model in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A rare “Made in Japan” Jaguar, this model takes a circa 1962 Jaguar platform and outfits it with a pair of USA DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion humbuckers. Echoing the central modification Kurt Cobain made to his Jaguar, these factory-installed pickups handle heavy gain with ease.

One of the earliest examples of a Fender Japan Cobain-style Jaguar HH platform, this "Order Made" model predates the Ikebe-exclusive HJC-66KC Cobain Jaguars (the IV, V, and VI variants), which would be released in very limited quantities just a couple years later. The “Order Made” program was a sort of custom shop for Fender Japan, producing guitars with unique specs and top-notch componentry outside what was offered in the catalogs.

Featuring an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard, this Jaguar has a clear, bold acoustic response faithfully captured by the stock pair of DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion humbuckers. These high powered humbuckers are designed to kick your amp into overdrive, perfectly tailored to Nirvana-style ripping drive with big-yet-tight lows, fat trebles, and boosted, creamy mids. Weighing 8lbs 8oz, this guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the stock slender fretwire shows no wear, playing cleanly up the 24” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, and the “Made in Japan” text and N-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. The neck heel and pocket retain the factory stamps.

All of the electronics function as intended, with a standard Jaguar control configuration governing the DiMarzio Super Distortion humbuckers. While the body is factory-routed and shielded for the humbucker pair, the pickguard itself is a modern replacement. The chrome-plated hardware has plenty of shine, and the vibrato actuates smoothly, working in tandem with the vintage-style Jaguar bridge.

The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish exhibits only a handful of minor nicks and light finish scratches on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the lower bout perimeter. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is pristine.

A Fender-branded gigbag is included.
