Up for sale, a 1996 Epiphone Casino in excellent condition and in perfect working order, boasting an upgraded Bigsby B7 vibrato tailpiece and complete with the original hardshell case. Produced in Japan at the Terada factory and featuring a gloss Sunburst finish, this Epiphone reissue preceded the current "Elitist" line. Acoustically, the fully hollow all-maple body has a smooth, bright tone which works well with the original pair of P-90 pickups. These pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange bark and a glassy, percussive quality. Whether you want articulate cleans or thick overdrive, these pickups can produce either with ease and with a refinement far beyond most other modern Casino reissues. The guitar is lightweight at only 7lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and dialed in for low action and intonation with 10-46 strings.
The maple neck has a very slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and an effortless feel, measuring .780" deep at the 1st fret and .880" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features pearloid parallelogram inlay and fret edge binding, and the frets are practically perfect original medium jumbos which have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original hand-carved bone nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock retains the original Kluson-style nickel tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.
The electronics are untouched, with nickel pickup covers on the P-90s and gold reflector cap knobs on the Volume and Tone controls. Hardware includes an ABR-1 bridge and aftermarket upgraded Bigsby B7 vibrato tailpiece, and there's just a hint of patina on the dogear pickup covers. The orange oval label visible through the F hole has the six-digit serial number sequence used at the tail end of this era of Terada production. The Sunburst finish is accented by the original elevated pickguard, complete with vintage-spec "E" epsilon foil sticker. Cosmetic wear is limited to one small finish chip on the headstock edge, and just a couple microscopic marks and faint finish scratches in the clear coat, relegated to the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included, equally as clean as the guitar.
