Up for sale, a 1995 Yamaha BB-N5A in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. The BB-N5A is an early signature model developed for legendary bassist, Nathan East, one of the most recorded bass players in the history of music, with more than 2,000 credited recordings. Beyond his session prowess, he’s also appeared on-stage with a myriad of artists including Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, and Stevie Wonder. This expertly crafted Yamaha five-string model is as dynamic and versatile as its namesake, featuring a 24-fret fingerboard, stacked alnico magnet humbuckers, and Yamaha’s 5-control active electronics including a custom 3-band EQ and internal trim pots for Mid Cut and Bass Boost.
Tonewoods include an alder body, maple top, and a three-piece maple neck capped by a rosewood fingerboard, yielding plenty of natural resonance and a deep low end presence. The pickups feature Alnico V magnet construction, delivering tons of power and smooth, warm punch, with an ideal blend of glassy articulation and low-mid thickness that captures the full sonic range of all five strings. Additionally, the bevy of tonal sculpting controls enable everything from focused tic-tac sounds to wooly, thick thump, and the internal Mid Cut and Boost trim pots are an ideal tool for cutting through a mix.
