Up for sale, a 1995 Ibanez S540FM in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This S Series Ibanez was produced at the Fujigen factory with exquisite attention to detail, outfitted with a pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers.

The tonewood complement includes a mahogany body with bookmatched, heavily figured flame maple veneers on the top and back, a quartersawn rock maple neck and a bound rosewood fretboard. In the neck position is a Seymour Duncan SH-2N Jazz, which has a glassy treble response and full, tight bass, plus scooped mids to help each note sing clearly even in high gain scenarios. In the bridge position is a Seymour Duncan TB-14 Custom 5, designed as a brighter, Alnico V version of the much-lauded Custom Custom humbucker, delivering a full, rich tone with an ideal balance of bass and treble frequencies. The middle pickup is the stock IBZ C3, offering single coil snap and sparkle, pairing with the humbuckers for unique tones at each position on the five-way selector switch. Featherweight at 6lbs 7oz, this Ibanez has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The quartersawn maple neck has Ibanez’s Wizard profile, a very slender D-shaped carve with full shoulders in every register, measuring .705” deep at the 1st fret and .830” at the 12th. The bound 22-fret rosewood fretboard features a 12" radius and abalone oval inlay, with a “Custom Made” inlay at the 21st fret. The jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, retaining its full factory height with well-rounded crowns, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures a full 1 11/16” (43mm) in width, and on the headstock, the Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the HSH pickup complement wired to an upgraded harness with one replaced pot and added shielding, governed by a five-way pickup selector switch and Volume and Tone controls. Hardware includes an upgraded genuine Floyd Rose tremolo and a pair of black dome-topped knurled knobs.

The gloss Transparent Turquoise finish highlights the tight, straight tiger flame figuring that extends across the bookmatched maple top and back. Cosmetic wear is limited to a scant few tiny dings along the body perimeter, largely limited to the lower bout, and a small area of buckle rash on the back central to the waist. The neck profile retains its smooth satin finish.

A gigbag is included.
