Up for sale, a 1995 Ibanez George Benson signature model GB10 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced at the venerable Fujigen factory in Japan, the GB10 is Ibanez’s longest running model, introduced in 1977, featuring a compact, fully hollow design with a 14 1/2" lower bout width. Tonewoods include a spruce top, maple back and sides, a three-piece maple neck, and a bound ebony fretboard.Acoustically, this Ibanez has a woody natural warmth and a midrange-forward, authoritative cut faithfully captured by the stock pair of GB Special floating mini-humbuckers. Designed in conjunction with George Benson, these floating pickups are full and round-sounding, specifically tailored to mitigate feedback while delivering sweet, clear treble articulation. This GB10 weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The three-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders, gaining a hair more heft and roundness in the upper registers, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th. The ebony fingerboard is framed by grained ivoroid binding and features pearl/abalone split block inlay. The medium jumbo fretwire benefits from a level and crown, only exhibiting a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-12 that becomes progressively lighter as you approach the octave. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 11/16” in width, carved of brass and bone for optimal sustain and note clarity. The bound headstock features an ornate “GB” pearl inlay, with Benson’s signature embossed into the truss rod cover, and the Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly with pearloid buttons. All of the original electronics function as intended, with the pickups mounted to the floating tortoise pickguard assembly, governed by a three-way pickup selector switch and independent pairs of Volume and Tone controls. Hardware includes the GB10 custom tailpiece with tortoise inserts and the floating rosewood bridge with subtle inlay on the feet. Plastics comprise the original quartet of Sure Grip II knobs, which have ridged rubber grips for easy on-the-fly adjustments and swells. The gloss Brown Sunburst finish is framed by multi-ply grained ivoroid binding, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a scant few tiny nicks, as well as a couple faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is immaculate and highlights subtle flame figuring in the maple.A padded softshell case is included.
