Up for sale, a 1995 Gibson Les Paul Standard in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This early modern Standard weighs 10lbs 4oz and hails from what is increasingly known as the "good wood era," delivering a lively, powerful acoustic voice that translates well through the humbuckers with the traditional tonewood complement of a carved, bookmatched two-piece maple top, mahogany body, and one-piece mahogany neck. The 490R and 498T humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the Alnico II magnets in the neck pickup offering more chime and warmth, while the Alnico V bridge pickup has a cut and snarl that cuts through with classic Gibson roar. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard has low action, spot-on intonation, and fresh 10-46 strings.
The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender ‘60s-style C-shaped profile carve, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard, the original frets have good meat, playing cleanly in all registers with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The headstock retains the "Standard" truss rod cover and bolt bushing Gibson Deluxe double line tuners which have vintage-spec greened keystone buttons.
All of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and "Gibson USA"-embossed humbucker baseplates. The CTS pots date to the 48th week of '94. The chrome hardware is bright and clean, with light patina on the pickup covers and stopbar tailpiece. All of the original plastic parts are present including the amber speed knobs, cream pickup rings, aged cream pickguard, and switch surround.
The original nitro lacquer Vintage Sunburst (Tobacco Sunburst) finish exhibits finish scratches across the top, largely pick-related and loosely across the strum path, with similar but more restrained wear on the back and rims. There is a spot of relatively shallow stand rash behind fret 9 on the neck profile, and similar light stand-related finish wear along the lower bout edge. The guitar has a very faint smell of smoke (stronger in the case, and very likely to dissipate over time). There is also a finish chip on the back treble-side headstock edge.
The original brown Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
