Up for sale, a 1995 Gibson Les Paul Custom in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. Ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano, Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience. From an increasingly heralded era of Gibson production, this Les Paul makes the most of the classic combination of a solid, non-weight relieved mahogany body, carved maple top, and genuine ebony fretboard, delivering a bold, muscly acoustic voice with great articulation and warmth. Weighing 9lbs 13oz, this Les Paul has and impressive clarity, punch, and midrange presence. The original 490R and 498T humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with Alnico II magnets in the neck pickup yielding more chime and warmth, while the Alnico V bridge pickup is tailored for gain with plenty of output and roar. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 strings, this Les Paul is everything a top-tier Gibson model was designed to be.The one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder in every register and a hair more heft further up the fretboard. The neck carve is the perfect balance of speed and substance, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The ebony fretboard sports pearl block inlay and original flawless fretwire which retains its full factory height. The neck is straight, and the guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock has all the classic appointments of a Les Paul Custom, with multi-ply binding, split diamond pearl inlay, and "Custom" truss rod cover. The original Grover Rotomatic tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The guitar does exhibit an invisible headstock repair, with a mahogany back strap and some light overspray on the neck profile. There’s an absolutely tiny amount of finish shrinkage and settling into the pores of the mahogany on the profile, and extremely faint texturing of the gloss in this area. All of the electronics work as they should, with a pair of stock Gibson 490R and 498T humbuckers wired to the original harness with CTS pots that date to the 12th week of '95. The hardware includes the Nashville bridge and stopbar, and the gold plating is in excellent shape with just a touch of wear through the plating on the edges of the bridge pickup cover and bass-side tailpiece stud. Other accents include a quartet of black speed knobs, and the stock switch surround and tip. The top presents very well, and cosmetic wear on the gloss Ebony nitro lacquer finish is limited to buckle worming at the bass-side waist and lower bout on the back, with just a few additional minor marks on the back and behind the bridge on top.The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case with pink plush interior is included, along with the Gibson/Yamano hangtags.
