Up for sale, a 1995 Gibson ES-335 dot semi-hollowbody electric guitar in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced in an increasingly celebrated era of Gibson production, this ES-335 features a highly figured semi-hollow maple body, and the dimensional curly maple is lively and consistent in its figuring depth across the entire body, highlighted by the Antique Natural nitro lacquer gloss finish. The ES-335 Dot represents Gibson's first solid attempt at recreating the magic of the late '50s dot neck ES-335, and this example is outfitted with its stock pair of '57 Classic PAF humbuckers. Strummed acoustically, this ES-335 has a big, broad tone with plenty of treble sparkle and airy warmth in the bass register, and this rich, dynamic sound translates well through the pickups. The neck pickup is detailed and round, ideal for thick lead lines and complex chording, while the bridge position has a bit more cut, interacting well with a clean signal and overdriving with ample sustain and muscle. The guitar weighs 8lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, spot-on intonation, and fresh 10-46 strings. The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender, 60s-style C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders in every register and a hair more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .805" deep at the 1st fret and .900" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a nice dark cut of this tonewood, featuring dot inlay and original medium jumbo frets which retain their full factory height, showing zero wear and playing cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale. The neck is straight, the truss rod is responsive and ideally adjusted. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The headstock sports a pearloid Gibson logo and classic crown inlay, as well as a set of original Grover Rotomatic nickel-plated tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.On the body, all of the original electronics work as they should, with the '57 Classic PAF humbuckers wired to a three-way pickup selector and individual Volume and Tone knobs for each pickup. The pickups have flawless PAF stickers on their baseplates, and the neck pickup route reveals the long neck tenon. Plastics include the original four-ply pickguard and quartet of amber bonnet knobs. The nickel hardware is bright and clean with just a touch of patina, including a vintage-correct ABR-1 bridge, a feature not seen on all years of the ES-335 Dot's production. Visible through the F hole, the original white oval label with handwritten model/serial details is intact. The Antique Natural gloss nitro lacquer shows virtually no ambering, highlighting the extremely lively and dynamic curly flame that extends across the body. Stunningly well-kept with barely a scratch on it, we’ll conservatively categorize the instrument as “near mint," and there are just a few light pick scuffs across the pickguard. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless. The original Gibson USA brown tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
