Up for sale, a 1995 Gibson ES-175 in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case and all hangtags. A striking archtop model first offered by Gibson in the 1950s, the ES-175 features a dramatic florentine cutaway, heavily figured fully hollow maple body, and a pair of '57 Classic PAF humbuckers. Produced in an increasingly celebrated era of Gibson production, the ES-175 was made only in small quantities throughout the '90s. This example was originally offered to the Japanese domestic market via Gibson's distribution deal with Yamano, and the Yamano guitars are considered in many circles to be among Gibson's best, chosen specifically for the discerning Japanese audience (right down to the unique "Premium Quality for Japan" Gibson hangtag).Befitting the all-maple body, the guitar has an articulate, snappy treble response, with a warm, broad tonal profile thanks to the fully hollow construction. Notes are sweet, singing, and full-bodied, with great clarity and a touch of growl in the bridge position, and lots of meat when flipped to the neck position humbucker, perfect for smooth, mellow Jazz tonalities. The instrument weighs 7lbs 4oz, strung with 10-46 roundwound strings and professionally setup with low action and accurate intonation here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.The one-piece mahogany neck has a modestly slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with generous shoulder and more overall heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .980" at the 9th. The bound rosewood fretboard features split parallelogram inlays and original frets which have their full factory height and show virtually no wear, just shy of medium jumbo in size. The neck is straight with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod and the guitar conforms to traditional Gibson specifications with a 24 3/4" scale length and 1 11/16" wide nut. On the headstock, the Gibson Deluxe tuners show light surface patina with lightly greened tulip buttons. The electronics function as intended, and both humbuckers have their original PAF stickers on the baseplates. The nickel plating shows light patina on the trapeze tailpiece, pickup covers, and ABR-1 bridge. The Antique Natural (Blonde) gloss nitro lacquer finish highlights the consistent, deep flame figuring which extends liberally across the entire body. Exceedingly well-kept, cosmetic wear is limited to light pick wear across the elevated pickguard, and just a few tiny nicks and extremely faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The original brown tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included, along with all of the original hangtags, many noting the Gibson/Yamano provenance of the instrument.
