Up for sale, a 1995 Gibson Advanced Jumbo 1936 vintage reissue dreadnought acoustic guitar, complete with the original hardshell case and all factory paperwork. Introduced in 1936, only 300 Advanced Jumbo guitars were originally produced before the J-200 Super Jumbo took its place. This rare reissue model was made at the Bozeman, Montana factory by Gibson USA with all the Pre-War hallmarks of Gibson construction. This particular AJ was ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano, and Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods hand-picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.

Tonewoods include a scalloped X-braced Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, one-piece mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard. As the guitar features Gibson's full 25 1/2" scale (as opposed to their usual 24 3/4" dreadnought playing field), the extra tension on the top attributed to this scale length results in an incredibly clear and rich sound with ample projection, great string-to-string clarity, and superior note definition when chording. Tonally, this guitar is warm and relaxed, with a broad-yet-dynamic midrange and crisp, punchy trebles. And while visually similar to a J-45, the AJ has a higher volume ceiling with more bass kick and less compression as you dig in. This AJ weighs 4lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

There are three professionally repaired cracks on top: one repaired center seam at the lower bout extending south from the bridge, and one on either side of the fretboard extension. There is targeted touch-up on the fretboard extension repairs, and the Vintage Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is otherwise 100% original, exhibiting broad checking across the body. Cosmetic wear on the finish is limited to light scuffing along the strum path, primarily limited to the guard, and a handful of faint scratches on the body as a whole, most prominent on the back at the lower bout (falling well short of buckle rash). The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

The original brown tolex hardshell case with purple plush interior is included, along with the Gibson/Yamano factory documentation.
