Up for sale, a 1995 Fender Telecaster Custom 50th Anniversary edition model TLG-94P in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded hardshell case. This rare, upper-tiered Tele was a limited run release, crafted during the golden age of “Made in Japan” production. Sometimes referred to as the “Vegas Tele” or the “Nashville Custom Tele,” this unique, eye-catching offering has seen its most high profile usage in the hands of U2's The Edge. Features include gold hardware, a six-saddle bridge, and a Vintage White custom color finish framed both top and back by white pearloid binding.

Tonewoods include a basswood body and a maple neck capped by a thick slab rosewood fretboard, and this Tele has a smooth, clear natural acoustic profile that is faithfully captured by the stock pair of single coil pickups. These pickups deliver a bevy of classic Tele tonalities; the bridge has ample twang and snap, and the neck has a bell-like fullness while retaining good articulation. This Telecaster weighs 7lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges and generous, inviting shoulders in every register, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .910” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the stock slender fretwire is practically perfect, with well-rounded crowns. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The stock nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. The matching headstock features a gold Telecaster logo, and the original gold-plated Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The “Made in Japan” text and S-prefix serial are present above the gold four-bolt neck plate, and matching TLG94 model stamps are present on the neck heel and in the pocket.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a three-way selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. The harness is stock, save for a replacement pickup selector, and the bridge pickup has been professionally rewound to factory spec, metering 6.2k ohms. The gold-plated hardware has plenty of shine, including the flat-topped knurled knobs, control plate, and six-saddle bridge with block saddles. The three-ply dimensional pearloid pickguard rounds out the plastics, with some requisite light scuffing on the treble side of the strum path.

The gloss Vintage White finish exhibits gentle aging of the clear coat, framed by ambered pearloid binding. This is an exceedingly well-kept Fender, with just a scant few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the back. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

An original SKB-made and Fender-branded molded hardshell case is included. This case is era correct for the instrument, and presumably an upgrade made at the time of purchase.
