Up for sale, a 1995 Fender Jazz Bass model JBG-70 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This uncommon, upper-tiered Fender Japan Jazz Bass had a limited production run in the ‘90s with a satin Matte Brown (catalog: MBR) finish that has a decidedly red hue, accented by gold hardware.Tonewoods include a sen ash body and a maple neck capped by a slab rosewood fretboard. Weighing 11lbs 1oz, this bass has a clear, punchy acoustic voice with a complex midrange character and ample sustain. The bridge pickup delivers plenty of cut and burp, with a smooth treble grind and more warmth and thickness via the neck pickup. This Jazz Bass benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve at the nut with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, gaining appreciably more heft and roundness in the higher registers of the fretboard, measuring .790” deep at the 1st fret and .970” at the 12th. On the slab rosewood fretboard, the slender fretwire is pristine, playing cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. On the headstock, the clover-button tuning machines turn smoothly, with light patina on the gold plating. The N-prefix serial and “Made in Japan” text are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended, with a standard Jazz Bass control configuration. The gold hardware includes the control plate, bridge base, saddles, and even the screws. Plastics comprise the trio of knobs and three-ply black pickguard. On the Matte Brown satin finish, cosmetic wear is limited to a handful of minor nicks along the lower bout perimeter and an area of light buckle rash central to the back. The satin finish on the neck profile has been buffed to a semi-gloss from contact with the palm. The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
