Up for sale, a 1995 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62-80 in perfect working order. 100% original save for a pair of chrome-plated “ashtray” bridge and pickup covers that further align the bass with vintage spec, this "Made in Japan" Jazz Bass is an uncommon, upper-tiered iteration with features including USA Fender pickups and vintage-spec hardware. Made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this Jazz Bass rivals Fender's US production and is rarely seen outside its country of origin.

Weighing 9lbs 10oz, this Jazz Bass has a resonant and punchy natural acoustic response, and tonewoods comprise an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard. The USA-made pickup pair features the same coils found in Fender's American Standard models, and the bridge pickup offers a smooth growl and distinctive upper midrange character, accentuating the top end articulation of a set of fresh roundwound 45-105 strings. The neck pickup, in contrast, has a thicker, broader sound, delivering ample thump with the Tone knob backed off to taste. This Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4“ radius and retains the stock slender fretwire. The frets have ostensibly been leveled and crowned in their lifetime, currently showing just a hint of wear on the crowns of frets 1-4. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. The peghead sports a '62 style "Fender Jazz Bass" decal, along with original tuning machines with full-size vintage-spec baseplates and clover buttons. The "Made in Japan" text and N-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, with stock USA-made Fender pickups wired to the stock harness. The chrome-plated hardware all shines like new, including the control plate, bridge with vintage-style spiral saddles, and added “ashtray” covers. The original rich red tortoise pickguard contrasts with the three-tone gloss Sunburst finish, and the properly-placed finger rest is an aftermarket addition.

Cosmetic wear includes a number of chips and dings along the lower bout body edge, an area of buckle rash on the back central to the upper bout, an isolated finish chip on the back of the treble-side horn, and a handful of faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth, ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

A gigbag is included.
