Up for sale, a 1995 Fender American Standard Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. From a Limited Edition custom color run offered only in '95 with matching pegheads, this Strat is finished in Candy Apple Red, augmented with a trio of boutique aftermarket single coil pickups, an ObsidianWire Custom Blender harness, and refretted with jumbo fretwire. The American Standard Stratocaster was produced with reverence for Fender’s past and a host of modern, player-friendly features including a 9 1/2“ fretboard radius, 22-fret fretboard, two-point vibrato with steel saddles, and Schaller tuning machines.
Tonewoods include an alder body and maple neck. The upgraded trio of single coil pickups (marked "@ Tuning" on two of the baseplates) have fiber bobbins, cloth-covered leads, and additional copper and steel baseplates for added kick and treble snap. The bridge pickup is twangy and sparkling, the neck pickup is throaty, with a percussive cut, and the “in-between” positions on the five-way selector switch have quintessential hollow Strat quack. Additionally, the augmented ObsidianWire Custom Blender harness enables neck + bridge pickup functionality, accessed through the Blend knob (in place of a second Tone knob). This guitar weighs 8lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck moderately slender C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .825” deep at the 1st fret and .885” at the 12th. The fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, refretted with flawless jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16” in width. On the matching Candy Apple Red headstock, the Fender-embossed Schaller tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the upgraded pickups wired to the ObsidianWire Custom Blend harness, governed by a five-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume and Tone knobs, and the Neck/Bridge Blend knob. The chrome-plated hardware is notably clean, including the jack cup, and two-point vibrato with steel saddles. Plastic parts are notably well-kept as well and all bright white.
Cosmetic wear on the gloss Candy Apple Red finish includes a handful of minor nicks and dings along the lower bout body edge, a singular small mark on the top on the lower bout, and a few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. There are also a few "tan lines" on the lower bout on top from previously removed stickers. The satin finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth, with just a few shallow marks along the profile length that have no impact on playability.
A Fender-branded gigbag is included.
