Up for sale, a 1994 Ovation Adamas model 1687-8 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. A particularly rare model produced by Ovation in New Hartford, Connecticut, this Adamas sports a sophisticated blend of high technology and old New England craftsmanship, with a carbon graphite top finished in Reverse Blue Burst and Ovation's deep body bowl. A top tier model from Ovation’s flagship workshop, this Adamas 1687-8 boasts a unidirectional carbon-graphite suspended Fibronic Soundboard which provides a bold, clear voice and lightning-fast response. Each top is precisely fitted with “AST” – Adamas Suspended Top – technology that allows the ultra-thin top to vibrate more freely than traditionally constructed acoustic guitars.

The tone is bright, chiming and distinct, with an inherent bold warmth and fullness. Plugged in, this Ovation design truly shines in live situations with a 1/4" output for the OP24 preamp and three-band EQ, faithfully reproducing the percussive cut and expressive shimmer which has become the sonic signature of these carbon graphite-topped models. Weighing 5lbs 15oz, this acoustic electric has been dialed in with low action and effortless playability here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 11-50 phosphor bronze strings.

The two-piece walnut neck has a hand-rubbed satin finish that has been comfortably worn in, featuring a medium V-shaped profile with lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 9th. The slab black walnut fretboard features intricate tri-diamond maple inlay and pristine stock slender frets. The scale length is 25 1/4", and the nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The walnut headstock sports the intricate Adamas carve, and the original gold Schaller tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

On the body, the electronics work as they should, mounted at the bass side waist. The carved walnut bridge features the original compensated saddle with ample height, and the bridge sits flush with the carbon graphite top. A specially designed outer rim adds a subtle decorative touch to the soundboard, sealed with a fine strip of white binding, complementing the Reverse Blue Burst finish and pristine soundhole epaulettes. On the factory label inside the body, William Kaman II’s personal signature is present, a former president of Ovation and son of the roundback creator. Cosmetically, the guitar is extremely well-kept, with wear limited to a few faint marks on the headstock and neck.

The original hardshell case and factory paperwork is included.
