Up for sale, a 1994 Orville by Gibson Les Paul Standard model LPS-75 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and uncommon outside of its country of origin, this Orville is an official Gibson-licensed guitar and a result of a partnership between Gibson USA and their Japanese distributor Yamano Gakki. Named after Gibson's founder, Orville Gibson, this discontinued Orville model was crafted at the Fujigen factory.

This guitar evokes the look and feel of a late ‘50s Les Paul Standard with a solid mahogany body and '50s-style neck carve, solid two-piece carved maple cap, glued-in long tenon neck joint, and a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic PAF humbuckers. Metering at the upper end of the 57 Classic's known range, these humbuckers meter at 8.35k ohms, delivering a classic PAF tonal profile with great top end articulation and tailored mids for maximum clarity across their dynamic range. The neck pickup is warm and rich, while the bridge pickup has a drive-ready, aggressive bite.  This Les Paul weighs 8lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The mahogany neck has a '50s-style C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders, falling just shy of “baseball bat” territory, measuring .875” deep at the 1st fret and 1.015” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a dark, tight-grained cut with aged trapezoid inlay and fret-edge binding on the medium jumbo fretwire. The frets have well-rounded crowns and plenty of meat, only exhibiting wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-4. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The “open book” headstock sports an “Orville by Gibson” logo, and the nickel Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should, with lightly greened keystone buttons.

All of the electronics work as they should, with the Gibson USA '57 Classic PAF pickups governed by a standard Les Paul-style control configuration. The wiring harness has full-size Japanese pots that date to April, 1994. Nickel-plated hardware includes the ABR-1 bridge and corresponding stopbar, and the pickup covers have a consistent dusting of surface patina. Plastics comprise a quartet of amber bonnet knobs, cream pickup rings, and the pickguard, which has some requisite scuffing along the strum path.

The gloss Vintage Sunburst finish exhibits a number of chips (of varying sizes) along the lower bout body perimeter, as well as a handful of minor dings and faint scratches on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back. The neck retains its smooth gloss, with one small mark behind fret 2 that doesn't distract the palm while fretting.

A Gibson USA-branded brown tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
