Up for sale, a 1994 Gibson Les Paul Standard in exceptional condition with a nitro lacquer Tobacco Sunburst finish on the carved maple top. This early modern Standard weighs 9lbs 5oz, delivering a lively, powerful acoustic voice that translates well through the humbuckers with the traditional tonewood complement of a carved, bookmatched two-piece maple top, solid (non-weight relieved) mahogany body, and one-piece mahogany neck. An upgraded pair of Seymour Duncan PAF humbuckers with zebra bobbins have both a vintage look and the tonal properties to match, wound faithfully to the specs of the original PAFs of the '50s with sweet sustain, clear note attack, and a detailed, harmonically-rich response. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard is setup with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has a slender 60s C profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and a bit more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .965" at the 12th. On the dark rosewood fretboard, the original frets are intact, retaining their full factory height and plenty of meat, showing just a touch of wear on the crowns beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2. The guitar plays cleanly in all registers, the neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The nut has Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width, and the rosewood fretboard sports pearl trapezoid inlays. The headstock retains the original "Standard" truss rod cover and features a set of original bolt bushing Gibson Deluxe double line tuners which have vintage-spec greened keystone buttons and light patina on the gear housings. The serial has a 94-prefix, used only in 1994 for dating purposes for Gibson's centennial in lieu of the usual serial dating with the 1st and 5th digits. All of the electronics work as they should, with the upgraded pair of Seymour Duncan PAFs wired to the original wiring harness with a quartet of CTS pots which date to the 46th week of '94. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine, with light surface patina on the Nashville bridge and stopbar. Plastics include a quartet of amber bonnet knobs, and the pickguard has been removed (not included), with the original pickguard mounting holes very cleanly doweled with a dot of touchup. The original nitro lacquer Tobacco Sunburst finish is very warm on the two-piece carved maple top, with a Walnut gloss on the mahogany back and sides, accented by cream binding. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few minor marks on the back body edge and lower bout adjacent to the rear strap button, and a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the nitro gloss on the body as a whole. The gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth. The original Gibson USA brown tolex hardshell case is included and equally as clean as the guitar with functional latches and minty leather handle.
