Up for sale, a 1994 Gibson Les Paul Standard in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This early modern Standard weighs 9lbs 3oz and hails from what is increasingly known as the "good wood era," delivering a lively, powerful acoustic voice that translates well through the humbuckers with the traditional tonewood complement of a carved, bookmatched two-piece maple top, mahogany body, and one-piece mahogany neck. The 490R and 498T humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the Alnico II magnets in the neck pickup offering more chime and warmth, while the Alnico V bridge pickup has a cut and snarl that cuts through with classic Gibson roar. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard has low action, spot-on intonation, and fresh 10-46 strings.
The one-piece mahogany neck has a moderately chunky ‘50s-style C-shaped profile carve, not as overly hearty as some, yet still providing a nice handful with generous shoulder in every register, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .995" at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard, the original frets have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only very light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. The guitar plays cleanly in all registers, the neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The nut has Gibson's full 1 11/16" width. The headstock retains the "Standard" truss rod cover and bolt bushing Gibson Deluxe double line tuners which have vintage-spec greened keystone buttons.
All of the electronics work as they should, with stock pickups and clean "Gibson USA" stamps on the baseplates. The wiring harness is untouched, with original solder joints and CTS pots that date to '94. The chrome hardware is bright and clean on the Nashville bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and pickup covers. All of the original plastic parts are present including the amber speed knobs, cream pickup rings, aged cream pickguard, and switch surround.
The original nitro lacquer Cherry Sunburst finish is very warm on the two-piece carved maple top, with a Cherry gloss on the mahogany back and sides, accented by cream binding. Cosmetic wear is limited to some pick scuffing across the strum path, as well as light finish scratches and nicks on the back and a few minor marks on the edges of the top as well. The neck profile retains its flawless nitro gloss.
The original brown Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
