Up for sale, a 1994 Fender Yngwie Malmsteen signature Stratocaster model ST72-110DSC in excellent condition and in perfect working order, augmented with a pair of Seymour Duncan JB Jr. single coil-sized humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions. Featuring a scalloped maple fretboard and a "Yellow White" gloss finish over a basswood body, this "Made in Japan"-era '72 Strat has both the exceptional feel and tone for which Fender Japan is known, produced in the year prior to Yngwie's signature being added to the headstock face. This Strat is a discontinued, non-export model designed for sale only within Japan.

The high output Seymour Duncan JB Jr. single coil-sized humbuckers are bright and powerful, with dense harmonics and plenty of midrange cut; perfect for thick, articulate crunch and screaming leads. The middle pickup is the original ST-current ceramic magnet single coil, offering a bright, twangy counterpoint to the fat sounds at the JB Jr. humbuckers. This Yngwie Strat weighs 7lbs 6oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a moderately chunky C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders in every register, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .945” at the 12th. The scalloped maple fretboard has a 10" radius, and the slender frets are practically perfect, with only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. This Strat plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted bullet-style truss rod. The original brass nut measures 42mm (1.650”) in width, and the large ‘70s-style headstock has the correct block logo and Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and N-prefix serial number are present above the three-bolt F neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should with the trio of pickups wired to a replacement three-way pickup selector and original trio of pots. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine, and the vibrato responds effortlessly for deep dives and expressive warbles with a diecast block, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. Plastics include a trio of cream knobs and three-ply white pickguard. Cosmetic wear on the Yellow White gloss finish is limited to a handful of scattered minor dings on the lower bout and body perimeter.

The original Fender Japan exclusive black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the original owner’s manual.
