Up for sale, a 1994 Fender Stratocaster '62 vintage reissue model ST62-70 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, loaded with the original complement of USA Fender black bobbin 57/62 single coil pickups. An upper tier Fender Japan exclusive model rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Stratocaster was produced at the famed Fujigen factory. The trio of factory-installed 57/62 Fender American Vintage single coils feature black bobbin flatwork and staggered, unbeveled alnico magnets, delivering a sound that is crystalline and dynamic, balanced by a sweetness emblematic of Pre-CBS era Fender instruments. The bridge pickup has ample sparkle and bridge position twang, with signature Strat "quack" in the in-between positions on the five-way switch, and a neck pickup that has a very round, bell-like sound. The guitar weighs 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, providing ideal substance and chording effortlessly, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. On the very dark, tight-grained slab rosewood fretboard, the original vintage-spec frets retain their full factory height, showing virtually no wear with well-rounded crowns. The guitar plays well up the 25 1/2" scale, with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius and 1.675" wide nut (just shy of 1 11/16"), carved from bone for optimal note clarity and sustain. The headstock is fitted with Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The "Made in Japan" script text and Q-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as intended, and the trio of Fender American Vintage single coil pickups are wired to the original harness with untouched solder joints. The vibrato has a full-size block for optimal sustain, and the guitar has clean chrome plating on the bridge base and jack cup, with light patina across the Fender-embossed bridge saddles. Plastics include a parchment three-ply pickguard with some requisite pick scuffing on the treble side and uniformly aged knobs and switch tip. The Black gloss finish is remarkably well-kept, showing just a couple exceedingly minor finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the back, and a couple shallow dings on top behind the bridge.A gigbag is included.
