Up for sale, a 1994 Fender Precision Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model PB62-53 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and uncommon outside of its country of origin, this “Made in Japan” Precision Bass delivers plenty of broad thump and rich treble growl. Tonewoods include a basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, offering a smooth, balanced and resonant acoustic platform. This bass weighs 8lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .825” deep at the 1st fret and .975” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire only exhibits a hint of wear beneath the strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the clover-button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and P-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

The traditional electronics work as they should, with the pickup wired to Master Volume and Tone controls. Hardware includes the chrome-plated flat-topped knurled knobs and four-saddle bridge with steel barrel saddles. The “tomato soup” red tortoise pickguard is the distinct material used by Fender Japan in this era, accenting the Sunburst gloss finish.

Cosmetic wear is limited to moderate buckle rash central to the back and a handful of minor dings along the lower bout perimeter. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss.

A gigbag is included.
