Up for sale, a 1994 Fender Jazzmaster '62 vintage reissue model JM66-RC in near mint, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, upgraded with Lollar pickups and a Mastery bridge. This exceedingly rare "Made in Japan" Jazzmaster was produced at the Fujigen factory in the golden age of Fender Japan, designed for the Japanese domestic market and virtually unseen outside its country of origin. The guitar features a distinctive shade of Burgundy Mist complete with matching headstock, unique to the early years of Fender Japan with a more ruddy, coppery appearance.

At 8lbs 5oz, this Jazzmaster is a medium weight example with a smooth, clear acoustic voice that translates well through the upgraded Lollar black bobbin Jazzmaster pickups. These boutique hand-wound USA made pickups have staggered alnico pole pieces for superb string-to-string balance, offering the tonal breadth and detail of a vintage Jazzmaster single coil and a particularly glassy, shimmering treble character. Each position on the three-way pickup selector is distinct and vital, with additional warm and wooly tonalities when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in for low action and accurate intonation with 9-42 roundwound strings (string gauge can be set to buyer's preference).

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile with generous shoulder in every register, offering a substantial yet fast-feeling carve, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th. The extremely dark rosewood fretboard has dot inlay and original slender vintage-style frets that retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, practically perfect with just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42.5mm in width (1.675"). The Burgundy Mist-finished headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Made in Japan" text and S-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome hardware is bright and clean. The vibrato unit engages smoothly for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the upgraded Mastery M2 bridge. This premium upgrade ensures optimal stability and resonance for any Jazzmaster, also guaranteeing optimal vibrato response with hard chrome-plated brass saddles. Plastics include a parchment pickguard and pickup covers. The Burgundy Mist gloss finish is stunning in its presentation, showing just a few tiny nicks on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original pickups and bridge are included, along with a black tolex hardshell case.
