Up for sale, a 1994 Continental Style IV tricone resonator in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Designed as exceedingly faithful recreations of original 1920s National resonators, the Continental instruments were crafted in very limited quantities with exacting attention to detail and no expenses spared. The brainchild of German master luthiers Hans Graf, Frantisek Javurek and Günther Lutz, Continental resonators were hand-assembled by AMI in Munich.

This Style IV roundneck tricone is a premium model, featuring ornate etchings on the nickel-plated “German silver” (white brass) body, with a one-piece mahogany neck and a bound ebony fingerboard. The instrument benefits from a fresh neck reset, retaining the original Continental cones. This tricone has a warm, smooth sound with glassy trebles and an overarching bark and cut. Naturally, it projects very well, with a bold, brassy kick, but has a notably sweet shimmer when played gently. Weighing 7lbs 15oz, this Style IV has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

The ornate floral etchings extend across the entirety of the body, with just a scant few areas of faint patina. Cosmetic wear is limited to a couple faint scratches on the back. The smooth semi-gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate and feels fast in the palm.
