1993 Mosrite USA Ventures Model '64 Vintage Reissue Sunburst w/ Vibramute, Case

Up for sale, a 1993 Mosrite USA Ventures Model '64 vintage reissue model in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced under Semie Moseley's United Sound Association, Inc. banner by a small team of craftspeople in the Boonville, Arkansas factory, this Ventures model was made the year after Semie's death, as USA production was winding down (all USA Mosrite production in the traditional sense would cease in 1995). This particular example was originally shipped to Japan, where the Ventures and the Mosrite brand have enjoyed enduring popularity, recently imported back to the USA.

An absolutely stunningly-accurate iteration of the Ventures model platform with every tiny detail accounted for and perfectly executed, this rare genuine USA-made Mosrite retains all the essential features of the '64 Ventures Model with multi-ply binding on top, 1st generation German Carve, smooth knobs and pickup covers, a single-ply mint green pickguard, large "Ventures" logo on the headstock, and a sandcast Vibramute tailpiece. The single coil pickups have ample power and midrange content, wound properly to vintage-spec and metering at 11.9k ohms, providing an authoritative sound that's quintessential Mosrite. Weighing 8lbs 12oz, this Mosrite has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with round shoulders, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .835” at the 12th. On the bound dark rosewood fretboard, the original slender frets have fret edge binding, showing moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5, with wear growing lighter on the crowns extending to fret 10. Faithfull to 1964 specifications, this Mosrite boasts a 24 3/4" scale length and 1 1/2" fretboard width at the zero fret just forward of the aluminum nut. The Sunburst-finished headstock features the large Ventures Model text, and tiny details like the rounded top headstock edges really make this Mosrite look "right" in every respect. The Kluson-style tuning machines have "USA Mosrite" on each gear housing, and the serial number is stamped on the last fret into the rosewood.

On the body, all of the stock electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and the Dimarzio-made 500k pots Semie Moseley began using in the late '80s (the pots date to 1993). The '64 look is rounded out with a single-ply mint green pickguard, smooth (non-embossed) pickup covers, and chrome-plated metal Mosrite knobs machined with smooth tops (the design that predated the more common "M" knobs). The “Vibramute” vibrato is extremely smooth and elegant, touch-sensitive in its responsiveness and made to exacting vintage spec with a sandcast base and chrome-plated string anchor and arm with the correct "elbow."

The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish is framed by multi-ply binding with a broad central ring of red just like the earliest Ventures models. The finish highlights the prominent German Carve, and the body is notably slender and properly contoured compared to an early '60s example. Cosmetic wear is limited to light buckle rash central to the back and a few dings on the back as well at the treble-side waist, with just a few additional faint finish scratches and minor marks on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth, and there are a couple small nicks on the treble-side headstock edge adjacent to the nut.

The original brown faux alligator hardshell case is included. This case features clean brown leather ends, gold silkscreen on the lid, functional latches, and the original handle.
