1993 Martin D-16H Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar w/ Scalloped Forward-Shifted X Bracing & Case

Up for sale, a 1993 Martin D-16H dreadnought acoustic guitar in near mint condition, complete with the original hardshell case. One of Martin's best kept secrets and a short-lived model only produced from 1991-1993, this D-16H is now vintage in its own right. Combining the tonewoods and construction techniques of a D-18 with a slender, modern neck profile carve, the D-16H boasts a solid Sitka spruce top with forward shifted Pre-War-style scalloped X bracing, paired with solid mahogany back and sides and a mahogany neck with dovetail joint.The guitar delivers the broad, open sound of a nicely aged top with ample projection. There's plenty of muscle and rich sustain on tap, with the low end heft and treble cut of the dreadnought body design. The trebles also have a bit of punch and a sweet, present character without being overly bright. Featherweight at 3lbs 13oz, this Martin D-16H has been dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and 12-53 strings.The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender C profile carve with modest shoulder and faintly rolled fretboard edges, very similar in feel to Martin's low oval shape, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .885" at the 9th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard retains the original slender, vintage-style frets which show zero wear and play cleanly up the 25.4" scale. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains the original Martin-branded mini Schaller chrome tuning machines with ebony buttons.The rosewood bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, and the saddle has good height. The feet of the bridge also feature snowflake inlay, echoing the fretboard inlays. The top is framed by tortoise binding and accented by a tortoise pickguard and herringbone rosette. The satin nitro lacquer finish is near mint, with just a few tiny marks on the body as a whole, and the neck profile is equally flawless, with a strap button added to the heel.The original black molded Martin hardshell case is included.
