Up for sale, a 1993 Kazuo Yairi CE-1 cutaway classical acoustic electric guitar in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Crafted in the Honshu Mountains of Japan, the K. Yairi brand has been synonymous with a high standard of workmanship for decades. This CE-1 features an undersaddle transducer pickup and active two-band EQ.

Tonewoods include a solid spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck capped with an ebony fingerboard, and the body measures just 3 1/4“ in depth, with a lower bout width of 14 3/4“. This guitar has a warm, airy tonal quality, with smooth, sonorous trebles, plus a certain punchiness in the midrange that pairs well with the glassy immediacy of the ebony board. The onboard electronics include center-detent Bass and Treble knobs on the bass-side upper bout rim in addition to a Volume dial. This K. Yairi weighs 4lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with normal tension strings and comfortable action.

The mahogany neck has a D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register, measuring .855” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 9th. On the ebony fingerboard, the slender fretwire is practically perfect, and this guitar plays cleanly up the 26” scale with a straight neck. The nut measures a full 2” in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. The headstock has a rosewood veneer and gold-plated open-gear tuners with pearloid buttons.

The bridge features individual compensated saddles, and the undersaddle transducer is powered by a 9V battery. Controls include Bass, Treble, and Volume, mounted on the bass-side rim of the body. The center-detent Bass and Treble knobs have a dramatic effect on the plugged-in tone of this Yairi, offering a smooth gradient from pillowy warmth to treble snap, and the push-button in/out nature of the knobs means they're nearly flush with the rim when not in use.

The gloss Trans Black finish on top is framed by multi-ply tortoise binding, with additional tortoise binding on the natural-finished back and rims. Cosmetic wear is limited to a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
