Up for sale, a 1993 Gibson Firebird V in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with a traditional Tobacco Sunburst gloss lacquer finish and original hardshell case. Few things are as unmistakably cool as a good Firebird V, and this particular iteration is the most popular and enduring with Gibson's modern hot Firebird pickups. The tone is rich and full, with plenty of midrange content, while still retaining chime in the top end. Like any good Gibson should, this Firebird sustains almost endlessly and has a strong acoustic resonance that translates well through the pickups. Particularly lightweight at 7lbs 12oz , this Gibson has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with full, round shoulders in every register and just a hair more heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .800" deep at the 1st fret and .865" at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard, the stock frets have well-rounded crowns and plenty of meat and height, showing only a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the scale length is 24 3/4". The headstock sports the original set of nickel banjo tuners, which turn very smoothly, hold pitch well, and are a vintage-correct option no longer available on current standard line Gibson Firebird models. There is also a very faint and shallow split running diagonally across only the central plies of the neck at the headstock joint, professionally addressed and posing no structural issue On the body, all of the electronics are stock and work as they should, with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup and black bonnet knobs. The pickups feature patent number baseplates, and the solder joints are untouched, with CTS pots that date to the 41st week of '93. The nickel hardware is notably clean, and cosmetic wear is limited to light buckle rash central to the back and a few additional nicks on the belly contour. The neck profile gloss is clean and smooth. The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
