Up for sale, a 1993 Gibson "Custom Shop Original" Limited Edition Les Paul Studio in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags, COA, and a hardshell case. A rare Les Paul model from what is increasingly known as Gibson's "good wood era," this instrument has unique features including gold hardware, a slab ebony fretboard, and an etched Limited Edition truss rod cover.Crafted in the spirit of the 1956 Les Paul, this Gibson features its stock pair of P-100 pickups, offering the growl and midrange cut of a P-90, but with a second coil to eliminate any single coil-centric hum while still delivering a glassy, dynamic overwound tone. The classic tonewood combination of a carved maple top and non-weight relieved mahogany body is tough to beat, and this Les Paul takes full advantage of these classic woods, dishing out plenty of natural authority and sustain, while the ebony fretboard ensures a glassy treble response. Weighing 9lbs 15oz, we've had this Les Paul professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, solid intonation and low action. The mahogany neck has a very slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with just a hair more perceptible depth and roundness further up the fretboard, measuring .775" deep at the 1st fret and .880" at the 12th. The ebony fretboard features pearl trapezoid inlays and original frets which have plenty of meat, just shy of medium jumbo in size and exhibiting virtually no wear. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The headstock retains the gold Gibson Deluxe double line tuning machines with green tulip buttons, and the Gibson logo is cleanly silkscreened at the top of the open book headstock shape. All of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and original CTS pots that date to 1993. Hardware includes the gold Nashville Tune-o-Matic bridge and corresponding stopbar, both of which have plenty of shine, with light patina through the plating on the bass-side of the bridge. Clean, original plastics include a quartet of black speed knobs, cream P-90 covers and a single-ply pickguard. The Ebony nitro lacquer gloss finish is well-kept, with cosmetic wear limited to one notable mark on top between the pickups at the bass-side waist, some small dings and scuffs on the back lower bout body edge and a few light finish scratches on the back. The neck profile retains its smooth nitro gloss with wear through the finish on the bass-side edge of the slab ebony fretboard. The original COA with matching serial and "Custom Shop Original" text is included, along with the hangtags and an SKB hardshell case.
