Up for sale, a 1993 Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster in collector-grade, 100% original condition, complete with the original tweed hardshell case. One of Fender’s longest-running and most popular signature models, the Stevie Ray Vaughan Strat is a faithful tribute to the legendary late bluesman’s beloved “Number One” Stratocaster (also referred to by Vaughan as “First Wife”).
Initially released as part of the Artist Series, this particular SRV dates to just the second year of the model’s production. It boasts all the essential features of the original, including an inverted left-handed Synchronized Tremolo (resulting in bass-side arm placement à la Hendrix), Texas Special single coil pickups, custom Thick Oval neck profile with 12”’ fretboard radius, gold-plated hardware, and an “SRV”-engraved pickguard. Weighing 8lbs 1oz, tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and a slab pau ferro fingerboard.
The Fender Texas Special single coils match vintage spec with black fiber bobbins, cloth-covered leads and staggered alnico magnets, delivering a bevy of sparkling classic Strat tonalities with a slightly aggressive overwound snap perfect for that SRV-style Texas sizzle and bite. The bridge pickup is bold and chewy and the neck has a full, bell-like quality, while the “in-between” positions on the switch yield hollow quack. This Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
