Up for sale, a 2010s Fender Order Made Roy Buchanan “Bluesmaster” Telecaster Custom in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Among the most rare and interesting Fender Japan Teles, this guitar is a faithful recreation of Roy Buchanan’s iconic Bluesmaster (also played by George Harrison), originally custom-built for the legendary Tele pioneer by the Fritz Brothers, Roger and John. The official Fender-branded version of that Tele was crafted in Japan as part of the Order Made program, which offered a bevy of non-catalog finish and component options. Features include a Nashville-style SSS trio of EMG SA single coil pickups, angled neck heel, 22-fret slab rosewood fretboard, and brass nut.

An alder body and maple neck round out the tonewood complement. The trio of EMG SA active single coil pickups feature Alnico V bar magnet construction, delivering all the sparkle and airy lows inherent to a classic single coil with virtually no hum whatsoever. The SAs have notable midrange warmth and creaminess, with taut snap towards the bridge, fuller, bell-like girth at the neck, and notably punchy, hollow quack at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This Bluesmaster Tele weighs 7lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss Sunburst finish is framed on both sides by single-ply cream binding, and this is an extremely well-kept Fender, with just a few pinhead-sized marks and faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
