Up for sale, a 1993 Fender Jazzmaster '62 vintage reissue electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order, upgraded with Seymour Duncan SJM-1 black bobbin USA-made pickups. Made in Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Jazzmaster was produced at the famed Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production.
A textbook example of everything we love about the Jazzmaster, the instrument has plenty of twang and sparkle on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. The Seymour Duncan SJM-1 pickups are wound faithfully to vintage spec with black bobbins, alnico magnets, and cloth-covered leads. Weighing 8lbs 1oz, this Jazzmaster balances well on a strap and has a clear, cutting acoustic voice. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster features fresh 11-49 strings, dialed in for low action and spot-on intonation.
The amber-tinted maple neck has a comfortable slender C shaped profile with modest shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. The dark rosewood fretboard has dot inlay and original slender vintage-style fretwire. The frets are in great shape, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5 and playing cleanly in every register. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", the fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the nut measures 1.650" in width (a hair over 1 5/8"). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Made in Japan" designation and P-prefix serial number are present at the heel above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics work as they should, with the upgraded Seymour Duncan pickups wired to the stock harness. The vibrato unit works smoothly and engages easily for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with an upgraded Mustang-style bridge. The chrome hardware is gleaming, and the pickup covers and pickguard are notably white and unfaded, contrasting with the saturated gloss Candy Apple Red finish. There is some scuffing across the pickguard and adjacent to the knobs, and the body exhibits a few dings below the belly contour on the back, with some scattered small nicks and chips, mostly relegated to the back and body perimeter. The smooth, lightly ambered gloss on the neck profile has just a couple shallow marks central to the carve behind frets 3-4, not distracting to the palm in the slightest.
A gigbag is included.
