Up for sale, a 1993 Fender American Standard Stratocaster in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An early Corona factory American Standard Strat, this Candy Apple Red-finished iteration reflects the high quality reinvention of the Stratocaster platform in the modern era. With reverence for Fender's past and a host of modern, player-friendly features, this alder-bodied USA Strat features a 9 1/2" fretboard radius on the 22 fret fingerboard, medium jumbo fretwire, a two-point vibrato, Schaller tuning machines, and a TBX tone control; all tweaks on the classic Strat platform that ensure optimal playability and tonal flexibility.
The trio of alnico magnet single coil pickups offer plenty of bite and articulation, and the neck pickup is particularly sparkling, with a round, bell-like tone that's perfect for lead work. Naturally, the five-way switch offers quintessential Strat quack in the 2 and 4 positions as well. This guitar weighs 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a moderately slender C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .895” at the 12th. The 22 fret slab maple fretboard retains the flawless stock medium jumbo fretwire, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the Fender-embossed Schaller-made tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with clean chrome plating. On the neck heel, the factory stamp dates this guitar to July 12, 1993.
All of the original electronics function as intended with the traditional Strat control complement, untouched solder joints, and original CTS pots (the original solder obscures the pot dates). The second tone pot has Fender's stacked TBX circuit, a unique center detent pot which enhances your tonal palette without the use of a battery. From 0-5, the TBX is a standard tone control, but from 5-10 the resistance decreases, allowing more bass, treble, presence and output to flow to your amp. The hardware and plastic parts are notably clean, and the two-point vibrato system has a very smooth and responsive feel, complete with steel block saddles and the original arm.
The gloss Candy Apple Red finish is bold and vibrant, extremely well-kept, with cosmetic wear limited to a few minor dings along the lower bout perimeter and just a handful of faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole.
The original molded Fender-branded hardshell case is included.
