Up for sale, a 1993 Epiphone Casino in excellent condition and in perfect working order, with uncommon birdseye figuring extending across the maple top. Produced in Japan at the Terada factory and featuring a gloss Sunburst finish, this Epiphone reissue preceded the current "Elitist" line. Acoustically, the fully hollow all-maple body has a smooth, bright tone which works well with the original pair of P-90 pickups. These pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange bark and a glassy, percussive quality. Whether you want articulate cleans or thick overdrive, these pickups can produce either with ease and with a refinement far beyond most other modern Casino reissues. The guitar is featherweight at only 6lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, accurate intonation and 10-46 strings.
The maple neck has a very slender C-shaped profile carve with a gentle increase in overall heft and shoulder as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .775" deep at the 1st fret and .850" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features pearloid parallelogram inlay, fret edge binding and medium jumbo frets which have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only very light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original hand-carved bone nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock retains the original Kluson-style nickel tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should, also exhibiting some light checking along the seams of the headstock wings (purely cosmetic).
The electronics are untouched, with the P-90 pickup pair governed by dedicated Volume and Tone controls for each single coil. Hardware includes an ABR-1 bridge and trapeze tailpiece, and there is light surface patina across these components and the dogear P-90 covers. Plastics comprise a substituted set of deeply ambered bonnet knobs and a modern replacement elevated pickguard, complete with vintage-spec "E" epsilon foil sticker. The orange oval label visible through the F hole has the five-digit serial number sequence used during this era of Terada production.
The Sunburst gloss finish is framed by ambered body binding, with birdseye figuring across the top. Cosmetic wear is limited to some scuffs and minor nicks on the back, while wear on the top is more restrained. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.
The original black tolex hardshell case with gold Epiphone E on the lid is included.
