Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a 1992 Yamaha Broad Bass 2000F fretless bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan, this fretless iteration of the Broad Bass platform is exceedingly rare with extremely small production totals. The Broad Bass features a five-piece maple/mahogany neck-through design with alder body wings and a slab ebony fretboard, offering a sound that is both warm and lively.

The stock PJ pickup configuration delivers plenty of broad thump via the split-coil P-style neck pickup, and great articulation with upper-midrange burp and growl from the J-style single coil rail bridge pickup. This bass weighs 10lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and 45-100 flatwound strings.

The five-piece maple/mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders, measuring .855” deep at the 1st “fret” and .950” at the octave. The thick slab Makassar ebony fretboard has a 10” radius, and the bass plays cleanly up the full 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1 9/16” in width. The headstock retains the clean gold “Broad Bass 2000” logo, and the stock tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch with a light dusting of patina across their nickel plating.

All of the electronics work as intended, with a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls governing the PJ pickups. The original pair of black speed knobs are present, with grippy, ridged edges for easy swells and adjustments. Hardware includes the lyre-embossed chrome-plated bridge.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish includes some dings on the body as a whole, finish scratches largely localized along the lower bout body edge, and wear through the gloss on the back of the bass-side body horn. The gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth save for a couple minor marks on the profile length.

A faux leather gigbag is included.
