Up for sale, a 1992 Ibanez S540BM electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Expertly crafted at the famed Fujigen factory in Japan, the S540BM was introduced in 1992 and discontinued by '95. The guitar features a burl mahogany top and back, one-piece maple neck with a Wizard profile carve, and dark bound rosewood fretboard. The HSH pickup complement includes the original Dimarzio-designed IBZ F2 neck position humbucker, IBZ C3 middle position single coil, and IBZ F1 in the bridge position.

The IBZ F1 and F2 humbuckers feature ceramic magnet construction for a cutting, rich sound that stays tight with heavy distortion, while the IBZ C3 single coil offers an excellent alternative for snappy cleans and a clear, balanced response. The S540BM weighs 7lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, accurate intonation, and fast action.

The one-piece maple neck has a slender C-shaped Wizard profile carve, fast and effortless with rounded shoulders, measuring .690” deep at the 1st fret and .820” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features abalone oval inlay, a “Custom Made” inlay at the 21st fret, and stock jumbo fretwire. The frets have their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly in every register. The neck is straight, with an ideally adjusted truss rod and 17” fretboard radius. The scale length is a full 25 1/2“, and the gold Top-Lok II locking nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. The headstock features a silver Ibanez logo with gold set of Gotoh “Made in Japan” tuners. On the back of the headstock, the original model number and serial number stickers are present with the correct sequence for Fujigen factory production.

On the body, all of the electronics function as intended, with a five-way blade pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls for the HSH pickup array. All of the stock hardware is intact including the gold knurled knobs and gold double locking Lo-Pro Edge tremolo. The original trem arm is present, and the gold hardware shows only light surface patina. The gloss Antique Violin finish highlights the burl figuring in the mahogany, framed by a subtle burst gradient on the body perimeter. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few light marks and scuffs in the clear coat of the gloss, with a couple small cleanly doweled MIDI pickup mounting holes just forward of the tremolo. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth satin finish.

The original Ibanez-branded gigbag is included.
