Up for sale, a 1992 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty" in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. 100% original save for a couple pots and capacitors in the wiring harness, this Les Paul was ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano. Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.

Officially known as the "LPB7" model, this is a very elegant and vintage-correct Custom Shop Les Paul with a mahogany carved top as well as a solid, non-weight relieved mahogany body and one-piece neck. This early Custom Shop offering weighs 9lbs 8oz and hails from what is increasingly known as the "good wood era," delivering a lively, powerful acoustic voice that translates well through the humbuckers.

The pair of '57 Classic PAF humbuckers deliver a range of tones from snarling, harmonic rich power in the bridge position, to more mellow and wooly tones at the neck. The tone stays defined and warm in all positions, and the mahogany top adds to the uniqueness of the sonic range on tap. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul is strung with 10-46 strings and dialed in with slinky action and spot-on intonation.

The neck has a surprisingly slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, yet with generous shoulder in every register and notable heft and roundness as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The bound ebony fretboard sports pearl block inlay and stock slender vintage-spec fretwire which is flawless with well-rounded crowns. The guitar conforms to traditional Gibson spec with a 24 3/4" scale length and 1 11/16" nut width, and the neck is straight with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The headstock has all of the hallmarks of a Custom, with the split diamond pearl inlay, inlaid Gibson logo, and multi-ply binding. The tuners are the original gold Grover Rotomatic gears, and the headstock features an inked serial number.

Electronics comprise the stock pair of '57 Classic humbuckers that both have perfect PAF stickers on their baseplates. The harness features modern CTS 500K Volume pots and premium Sprague Orange Drop tone caps, along with the original pair of Tone pots, also manufactured by CTS and dating to '92. Hardware comprises an ABR-1 bridge and stopbar, and the gold plating has plenty of shine, with light patina through the plating on the bass side of the hardware. Plastics include black speed knobs, multi-ply pickguard, and amber switch tip. Cosmetically, this instrument is exceedingly clean and well cared for, with just a few tiny nicks and faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original brown Gibson USA hardshell case with pink plush interior is included, along with two pieces of original paperwork in Japanese from Gibson/Yamano with matching serial details.
