Up for sale, a 1992 Fender Precision Bass Fretless model PBAC-950 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. This unique “Made in Japan” bass was introduced as part of a Japan-exclusive series that also included the HMT variant, and the PBAC-950 is among the rarer Fender Japan basses. Essentially offering a middle ground for upright and electric players, this PBAC features the combination of a Lace Sensor Silver split-coil P pickup paired with an under-saddle piezo pickup, active EQ, semi-hollow body construction, and a Jazz Bass-style neck profile.
The tonewood complement comprises a mahogany body, spruce top, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard, and this bass weighs 8lbs 3oz. Via the dynamic pickup pairing, this PBAC yields woody thump and broad, pillowy lows, accentuated by the 45-100 flatwound strings. The sound can be very rich or surprisingly bright and tic-tac flavored, with a wide array of tonalities on tap via the center detent Blend and EQ knobs. This PBAC-950FL has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.
