Up for sale, a 1992 Fender Custom Edition Order Made Telecaster Special model TL67-115 SPL in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This ostensibly one-of-a-kind “Made in Japan” Rosewood Tele was crafted at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production as part of Fender Japan’s Order Made program, which functioned as a sort of Custom Shop and offered a bevy of non-catalog features. Also falling under the short-lived Custom Edition banner (itself an extension of the ExTrad branding), this guitar is loosely based on Keith Richards’ iconic Telecaster “Sonny,” sharing a model designation with a Japan-exclusive replica of that iconic instrument, yet overlapping little with that guitar beyond the humbucker/single coil pickup pair and six-saddle bridge.
Tonewoods include a satin lacquer-finished open-grain rosewood body with a generous belly carve, paired with a maple neck and slab 22-fret ebony fingerboard. The resulting natural acoustic tone is hyper detailed with crisp trebles and plenty of low end kick. The stock pickups are a pair of USA-made Seymour Duncans. In the neck is an SH-2 Jazz humbucker, delivering a glassy treble response and full, tight bass, with scooped mids for optimal clarity whether clean or with gain. Additionally, this Jazz was wound by the “Queen of the SD Custom Shop,” Maricela Juarez, who has wound pickups for a myriad of artists including Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, George Harrison, and Slash. The STL-1B single coil in the bridge position delivers quintessential Tele twang. This Telecaster weighs 9lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The satin lacquer finish on the body exposes the natural grain and pores in the rosewood body, and cosmetic wear includes buckle rash on the back, some finish chips (largely along the lower bout), and a number of minor dings on the body as a whole. The neck retains its smooth ambered gloss, with a few shallow nicks along the profile length.
