1992 Ernie Ball Music Man Eddie Van Halen Signature Model Sunburst Near Mint, EVH

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 1992 Ernie Ball Music Man Eddie Van Halen signature model in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made in the USA by Music Man from 1990-1995, the production totals for the EVH Music Man are notably small, with only 600 produced in Sunburst across the entire production run. Designed by EVH and the model that would eventually become the Music Man Axis (with some tweaks) after the official endorsement ended, this guitar features a solid bookmatched flame maple top over a basswood body, paired with a heavily figured birdseye maple neck.

The pair of zebra bobbin Dimarzio custom wound humbuckers dish out plenty of articulate cut and sweet sustain, with more growl and attitude from the bridge pickup and a nice thick, round sounding neck pickup. The controls are as streamlined as can be, with a three-way pickup selector and singular Volume knob (with the correct "Tone" knob text as per the EVH model specs). The guitar weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action and accurate intonation.

The birdseye maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with rolled fretboard edges and full shoulders in every register, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .925" at the 12th. The neck has its proprietary Music Man gunstock oil and hand-rubbed special wax blend finish, feeling silky smooth on the palm. The maple fretboard has a 10" radius, and the "high profile, medium width" fretwire is flawless. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock has a birdseye maple veneer, Schaller M6LA tuning machines with pearloid buttons, and EVH's signature.

On the body, the electronics are all original, and hardware includes the Music Man-branded Floyd Rose Licensed tremolo which has gleaming chrome plating. The rare Sunburst gloss finish highlights the deeply figured two-piece bookmatched curly maple top, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the back. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.

An aftermarket back tolex hardshell case is included.
