Up for sale, a 1992 Charvel Surfcaster in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Among the most unique Charvels ever produced, the Surfcaster was crafted at the Chu Shin factory in Japan; this particular example dates to the second year of Surfcaster production, boasting an early feature set with a pair of “lipstick” pickups, three-on-a-side headstock, grained ivoroid binding, roller nut and GE-510J Floating Tremolo bridge.

Tonewoods include a chambered mahogany body capped with a bound horse chestnut top, a quartersawn rock maple neck, and a bound rosewood fretboard. The chambered body results in plenty of natural resonance, paired with the midrange warmth inherent to the mahogany body. The original pair of lipstick pickups are sweet and round-sounding with plenty of treble chime and sparkle, and the push/pull PhaseOut switch at the Tone knob enables slinky, out-of-phase sounds. Weighing 8lbs 8oz, this Surfcaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Black finish is framed by grained ivoroid binding on the top and “cat’s eye” F hole, and cosmetic wear includes light buckle rash on the back and some minor dings and finish scratches consistent with light use. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.

A hardshell case is included.
