Up for sale, a 1991 Orville by Gibson Les Paul Custom in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Differentiated from the standard Orville-branded instruments, the "Orville by Gibson" guitars represented the highest tier of Japanese construction. Made exclusively for the Japanese market and uncommon outside its country of origin, this Orville is an official Gibson-licensed guitar and a result of a partnership between Gibson USA and their Japanese distributor Yamano Gakki, upgraded with a pair of zebra bobbin Seymour Duncan humbuckers.
Weighing 9lbs 15oz, this guitar features a solid mahogany body and neck, carved maple top, long tenon neck joint, and a rosewood fretboard. Metering at 15.8k ohms, the SH-4 JB humbucker in the neck position is Duncan's original hot-rodded humbucker. The low end is full and powerful, the highs are crisp and detailed, and there’s an upper-midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords that translates to a singing, vocal-like quality when playing single notes or solos. The TB-14 Custom 5 Trembucker in the bridge position meters at 14.2k ohms, designed “as if the Custom 59 humbucker were twice as loud.” The tone balances lows and highs, with scooped mids for optimal clarity. This Les Paul Custom has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
