Up for sale, a 1991 Grover Jackson Dan Spitz Professional Rhoads V in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with its original hardshell case and hangtags. Designed in close collaboration with its namesake Anthrax shredder, this is a streamlined version of the stock Randy Rhoads V, loaded with EMG 81/85 humbuckers.
Weighing 8lbs 2oz, tonewoods include a through-body quartersawn straight-grain maple neck and yellow poplar wings with a bound ebony fretboard. The EMG humbuckers pack a powerful punch, with fat, thunderous response and metallic scream from the 81 at the neck to muscular growl and smooth lead tones from the Alnico V magnets in the 85 at the bridge. This Dan Spitz Professional Rhoads V benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
- Neck: Maple neck-through (quartersawn, straight-grain)
- Shape: Slender D, measuring .795” at 1st fret, .845” at 12th fret
- Fretboard: Ebony, 12-16” compound radius, 22-fret, pearloid reverse sharkfin inlay
- Frets: Jumbo, no wear
- Scale Length: 25 1/2”
- Nut width: 43mm, locking
- Tuners: Grover Jackson SG38-06
- Serialization: J-prefix, stamped on end of fretboard
Body Specs:

- Pickups: EMG 81 (N), EMG 85 (B) humbuckers
- Controls: Volume, three-way pickup selector
- Hardware: JT-590 Schaller-made tremolo, dome-top knurled knob
The gloss Black finish has some chipping into the wood on the treble-side body point, and the tip of the bass-side point is missing a small piece of poplar (touched-up). There’s moderate buckle rash across the back, with additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean, save for a few shallow indentations behind the 12th fret.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included, complete with factory paperwork dated to the 3rd year of the Heisei era (1991).
