Up for sale, a 1991 Gibson SG Standard in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. An unusual iteration of the Standard seen only for a few short years, this SG features a side-mounted barrel input jack.Reminiscent of the first SGs from the early '60s with smaller profile pickguards, this guitar features the stock pickup complement of a 490R humbucker in the neck position and a 498T at the bridge. The pickups have incredible dynamic range; the 490R is wound similar to a PAF, offering excellent clarity with a slightly boosted midrange, while the 498T is a high output powerhouse, tailored for high gain and cutting crunch. Lightweight at 7lbs 9oz, this SG has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has a '60s-style slender C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder in every register, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid trapezoid inlay and stock medium jumbo frets which have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-7. This guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the original Gibson Deluxe double line tuning machines are intact with lightly greened keystone buttons. On the body, all of the electronics function as intended, with original CTS pots, stock tone caps, and a side-mounted barrel input jack. All the chrome-plated hardware is notably clean, including the Nashville bridge and corresponding stopbar, and stock plastics include the quartet of reflector cap knobs and four-ply black pickguard. The gloss Ebony finish exhibits one finish chip on the outside edge of the treble-side body horn, and a small area that’s more satin in appearance on the edge of the bass-side body horn from contact with the case lining. The top is extremely well kept, with a bit of light pick scuffing across the strum path, while there are some light finish scratches and minor marks on the back, but well shy of traditional “buckle rash.” The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.A modern Gibson-branded hardshell case with white plush interior is included.
