Up for sale, a 1991 Gibson ES-335 Dot in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. From what's increasingly heralded as Gibson's "good wood era," this ES-335 Dot represents Gibson's first solid attempt at recreating the magic of the late '50s dot neck ES-335TDC.

This example features a Cherry gloss nitro lacquer finish, nickel hardware, and traditional 1 11/16" nut width on a slim taper '60s-style neck profile. Outfitted with a pair of stock '57 Classic PAF humbuckers, there's a harmonic complexity, midrange punch, and top end clarity that this 335 delivers with aplomb. Strummed acoustically, this ES-335 has a big, broad tone with plenty of treble cut and smooth growl in the bass register, and this rich, dynamic sound translates well through the pickups. The guitar weighs 8lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, spot-on intonation, and fresh 10-46 strings.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a very slender '60s-style C-shaped profile with modest shoulders and a particularly fast feel, measuring .775" deep at the 1st fret and .885" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and practically perfect original medium fretwire, offering easy playability in every register up the 24 3/4" scale. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The nut has been upgraded to a hand-carved piece of bone, measuring 1 11/16" in width. The headstock sports an inlaid Gibson logo and classic crown inlay, as well as a set of original Grover Rotomatic tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

On the body, all of the original electronics work as they should, with the '57 Classic PAF humbuckers wired to a three-way pickup selector and individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup, with black bonnet knobs. The nickel hardware shows uniform surface patina, and stock plastics include the quartet of black bonnet knobs and four-ply pickguard which exhibits some requisite pick scuffing. Visible through the soundhole, the original white oval label with handwritten model/serial details is intact.

The Cherry gloss nitro lacquer highlights consistent, lively curly flame figuring across the top and back. The figuring shifts with the light, and cosmetic wear includes some scattered small dings on top. Wear is slightly more pronounced on the back, with some finish scratches and minor marks consistent with light use. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.

A premium aftermarket brown tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
