Up for sale, a 1991 Gibson ES-175 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A striking archtop model first offered by Gibson in the 1950s, the ES-175 features a dramatic florentine cutaway, a fully hollow maple body finished in Vintage Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer, and a pair of early Gibson 490 humbuckers.
Produced in an increasingly celebrated period of Gibson production commonly referred to as the “good wood” era, the ES-175 was made only in small quantities throughout the '90s. Befitting the all-maple body, the guitar has an articulate, snappy treble response, with a warm, broad tonal profile thanks to the fully hollow construction. The 490R and 490T humbuckers are a very early example of this design, wound to offer a PAF-esque tonal profile with a modern edge and more accentuated midrange. The bridge pickup has a sweet growl and bite, while the neck pickup is bold and round with a clear percussive chop. This ES-175 weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
